• I was already excited about reading this book because my pastor had contributed to it and also, she gave me a few details about this on going project.. so glad I finally got to read it, it was everything I was expecting and more. This book gives you a sense of hope, because we all have been through our own trials and tribulations and sometimes we harbor ill feelings against people who have given us the short end of the stick and I feel that this book is a way of showing people who’ve been through stuff too, that they aren’t alone.. that the things you go through in life are what make you who you are. The idea behind the book was brilliant. I had wrote a college essay about Pastor Brenda where she had already told me a lot about herself but in this book it gave me a better idea of what it was like growing up for her whole family. I read the book in like 5 hours because I had gotten addicted and wanted to see how the story would end. There should most definitely be a part 2! I love it, I tend to get long winded so I’ll wrap this up! But before I go, again,this is a MUST READ!

I chose to read one letter each night at bedtime, to hear each voice clearly, and I came to feel part of this family in the process. The strength and endurance to be found in the darker days of their lives was palpable in each reading. And I could also hear the love underlying and running through their reminiscences. How blessed they are to have each other and how blessed we are by their courage.
