• Well worth the anticipation! I preordered this a few months ago and stayed awake till midnight last night...and of course had to read it straight through. Bess McBride delivered another delicious Scottish time travel romance. I look forward to the others in the city. Clean yet romantic, exciting and suspenseful. I am not the most critical of reviewers I want a solid book that ends happily and my favorite genres are Regency romance and time travel. In my "ilovebooksandonlywanttoread" opinion, you cannot lose.
• The book was too short. I hardly knew the characters in the 16th Century. There could have been so much more story that could have convinced the reader there was a wonder life for her in 16th Century Scotland. Instead, when Ann is ripped back to the present, I was relieved for her. The past was horrific. She had no freedom as they were all confined to a small plot of land that was no more than a sea stack in the ocean. Food was scarce and variety was very limited. There were zero comforts, it was damp and cold year round and everyone was on maximum stress because of clan war. There was nothing for her to return to except a hunk she just met and he would have to spend their lives guarding her 24/7 to keep his enemy from kidnapping and raping her. No thank you. I felt bad for her at the end. She was sure to regret that decision very soon. Not a happy ending in my opinion.
• I read about a book a week. Mostly highland historical. This is the first book I have read by this author. It is one of the best books I have read in a very long time ! As soon as I finished it I went right online to get the second book. I was very upset to find out that the next book in this series has not been released yet.
• The characters and story are great! This story has everything. It is thoughtful and has some twist with suspense. The romance was wonderful. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.
• I liked the book but it was too easy to figure the out come. Couldn't figure out why Ann didn't bring meds that could help knowing all that would take place in all the years to come.

• I have read every book that Bess McBride has written and this is the most adventurous book to date. I loved the pace and the storyline and I can hardly wait for the rest of this series. It was just like I was there and that made this story come alive.
• A wonderful story with a grand plot, great characterization, and theme. The heroes and heroines are exceptional, as are the villains! I have read this twice and am apt to read it again. I just can't get enough of this page turner!
